I was watching a documentary on one of the cable channels. The film was entitled My Date with Drew. It’s about a broke, average looking guy who has been in love with Drew Barrymore since he was in the second grade. In this film the topic is brought up that many people are divided into two groups. Those that love Grease, and those that love Grease 2. Yours truly is in the Grease 2 fan club.
Let me get it out there that I own the Grease 2 Soundtrack on tape. I had a serious crush on Michelle Pfeiffer, and after I saw the movie I wanted to find a motorcycle graveyard. I fell in love with the story line. Not so cool guy falls in love with hot cool girl. Not so cool guy reinvents himself to be so damn cool that ever one wants him. That scene in the bowling alley parking lot where he goes to light her cigarette with his Zippo and then the cops come is SO hot! “Maybe some other time.” He breathes as he closed the Zippo. That noise that it makes coupled with the sound of the leather gloves he had on was perfect by the way. Then flies over the cop cars and out of site on his bike. I swooned. I seriously swooned.
I never really think about movies having an impact on my life, but if one ever did, it was in fact Grease 2. This movie gave me dreams. It allowed me to believe that sometimes maybe the good guy does get the girl. It made me trust in the fact that if you love someone you should do all you can in attempt to win their heart. Till this day the song “Cool Rider” will pop into my head and refuse to leave my mind for hours at end. And don’t get me started on “Charades,” that song will make me cry in a half a heart beat. So I’ve decided that there are two groups of people out there. Those that want a hero, and those that want to be the hero. Give me a black biker jacket and a Zippo any day. This bitch has the heart and soul of a cool rider!
